In 1994, Jennifer Rose Kassidy took a weekend alone in Sydney to escape a toxic marriage. She met a backpacker from Detroit. What followed took years to write about—a story of psychological betrayal and deception that crossed three continents, involving the help of a seasoned detective, the Australian Federal Police, and Interpol.
Jenster — her debut memoir — is that story.
It reached #1 Best New Release on Amazon Australia, climbed to #4 in White Collar Crime, and placed in the Top 50 in the United States.
Before she became an author, Jennifer was a graphic designer, creative director, and photographer—building a career around a sharp eye for detail and visual storytelling. Those years shaped her writing: she captures detail with a photographer’s precision and reconstructs scenes with the perspective of someone who has spent a long time trying to understand them.
Jennifer spent a decade at Monash University, and has operated her own photography studio since 2004.
In 2017 she & her husband swapped their thoroughbred horse property in West Gippsland, Victoria, for the land of 10,000 lakes in Minnesota—a move that gave her the distance to write her story.
She is currently developing new work in historical memoir, writing about the people who didn't make the history books — but need to have their story told.
Based in Minnesota with regular visits to Australia, she is available for book clubs, speaking engagements, and media enquiries.
